Mie Goreng Noodles

Sometimes, you just craveeee noodles, and that’s okay! Ditch the over processed package noods, and satisfy your cravings with these easy and delicious mie goring noodles from scratch. Filled with lots of veggies and covered in a delicious sweet sauce, I’m telling you, you’ll be making this recipe time and time again.

Ingredients:

  • 3 instant noodle cakes

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 2 eggs, lightly whisked

  • 4 garlic cloves, finely chopped

  • 2 large chicken breast or thigh, sliced into nice bite sized chunks

  • 1/4 large cabbage, finely sliced

  • 3 green onions, thinly sliced

  • 1 tsp white pepper

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar

  • Generous pinch of salt

  • 2 tbsp cornstarch

  • Water

Sauce:

  • 3 tbsp kecap manis

  • 2 tsp light soy sauce

  • 2 tsp dark soy sauce

  • 1 tbsp oyster sauce

  • 2 tbsp ketchup

  • 1 tsp sambal oelek or Sriracha

  • 2 tsp sesame oil

Method:

  1. Prepare Noodles:

    • Cook instant noodle cakes according to package instructions. Drain and set aside.

  2. Make Sauce:

    • In a small bowl, mix kecap manis, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce, oyster sauce, ketchup, sambal oelek or Sriracha, and sesame oil. Set aside.

  3. Stir-Fry:

    1. Heat oil in a large pan or wok over medium-high heat.

    2. Add whisked eggs and scramble until cooked. Remove, slice into squares and set aside.

    3. In the same pan, add chopped garlic and sauté until fragrant.

    4. Add sliced chicken pieces and cook until white all over.

    5. Toss in cabbage and green onions, stir-fry until slightly wilted.

  4. Combine Ingredients:

    • Pour the prepared sauce over the noodles. Add your noodles into your dish.

    • Season with white pepper, brown sugar, and salt. Mix well to combine.

  5. Thicken:

    • In a small bowl, dissolve cornstarch in some water to create a slurry.

    • Pour the cornstarch slurry over the noodle mixture.

    • Stir continuously until the sauce thickens and coats the noodles evenly.

  6. Serve:

    • Once the noodles are coated and heated through, remove from heat. Add your chopped fried egg on top.

    • Garnish with additional green onions if desired.

    • Enjoy your delicious Mie Goreng noodles hot!
