Classic Peach Cobbler
Recently we had a lot of peaches at home, and I could not let them go to waste so I had to make something with them. I decided to try out an old fashioned peach cobbler recipe, and upon first mouthful my mum said that this cobbler is her new favourite dessert! It is so delicious and packed full of beautiful sweet peaches, the most perfect winter warmer for cold nights!
Old Fashioned Peach Cobbler Recipe
Preheat the oven to 180 degrees Celsius (375 Fahrenheit).
Ingredients:
6 peaches, boiled for a minute, then peeled & sliced
1/2 cup of white sugar
A pinch of salt
For the batter:
110g butter (poured in tin)
1 cup of flour
1/2 cup of white sugar
1 pinch of salt
1 tsp of cinnamon
2 tsp of baking powder
A pinch of salt
3/4 cup milk, full cream
Method:
Add your pre boiled peaches to a pan, with sugar and salt. Stir on medium heat until stewed slightly. We do not want to overcook the peaches before baking.
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, salt, cinnamon, and baking powder. Stir in milk until combined into batter. Melt your butter and pour this into a greased baking dish.
Pour your batter mixture over the butter in baking dish. Mix slightly and then pour your peaches on top. (Trust the process!)
Bake in the preheated oven for approximately 40 minutes or until brown and bubbling.
Finishing:
Allow the cobbler to cool slightly.
Dust with icing sugar.
Serve with a drizzle of cream or a dollop of ice cream! Enjoy.
